Carpet Bowls

Have you been watching the Indoor Bowls on the TV recently?

Carpet Bowls is a cut down version of this game designed to be played in Village Halls. If you want to find out more on how to play the game and the rules there is a short video on the English Carpet Bowls site at

The Shenley Bowls Club has been running since the late 1970s and flourished when the hospital site was still operational. Our club night is every Wednesday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm and we meet in the Village Hall in London Road. We are currently half way through the Bowls season. Unlike outdoor bowls we play throughout the year except for a short break in August. We belong to the Hertfordshire Carpet Bowls League and are in the second division. We also take part in the County competitions which are held in Ware throughout the winter/spring. The county has its own website where match information is posted regularly.

We would love to recruit a few more players to help keep the club running for a few more years.  Why not come along and see what it is all about? No experience is required, just an enthusiastic spirit!

You will find club members friendly and keen to help you develop your skills.  A session only costs £2 (plus a small joining fee) and there is no charge on your first night. All you need is a pair of trainers or sensible shoes. All other equipment is provided by the Club. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in the session charge.

If you are interested why not give me a ring on 01923.854478 ? or just turn up to one of our sessions. The Club’s address is : Shenley Village Hall,108  London Road, Shenley, WD7 9BS

We look forward to seeing you.

Maureen Ashman. Club Secretary.
