Volunteering in Shenley Park

Midweek volunteering on Thursday mornings 9.30-12.30.

If you would like to come and join in light gardening duties to help tidy up the Park this could be for you. The basic tasks around the Park would include footpath clearance, weeding, composting around the base of newly planted trees, checking tree ties and light pruning of apple trees. Contact the office for an application pack.

First Thursday of the month 9.30-12.30.

Come along for some or all of the time working with Trust staff on set projects. No experience necessary, just turn up. Details of where to meet will be on the information board outside the tea room.

Weekend volunteering opportunities

Throughout the year we arrange activities suitable for both adults and children to join in. Usually on Sunday afternoons, examples being tree planting, bulb planting and apple picking.

Posters are put out in the Park when these are arranged. Contact us if you would be interested in bringing a group along to do a weekend volunteering session and we can arrange something with you.

Action for a Cleaner Shenley

Action for a Cleaner Shenley

The ACS initiative was started in August 2015 to help make our lovely village cleaner and tidier.   Major Hertsmere Borough Council budget cuts have meant that virtually nothing is being done to keep pavements clear or signage clean.  Other areas are suffering and litter clearance has also been affected.   There is a great deal that needs to be done.  Shenley Parish Council is trying to address the problem and ACS is one of the solutions.

ACS has its own equipment, gloves, boots and high viz jackets.  Everyone is welcome to join our sessions, adults and teenagers.  People can do as much as they want to and are physically able to do. Weekend sessions happen when Volunteers are available to help.

Call Nicky on Friday to see if anything is happening over the weekend.  Weekend sessions tend to be for an hour only.

If you are interested in joining ACS please call Amanda Leboff on 01923 855865 or email clerk@shenleyvillage.org

Shenley Village Fete

Shenley Fete is entirely run by Volunteers.    We need help in the following areas and would appreciate anything you can do.

After the Fete, usually on the Monday evening after Fete Day, we have a Volunteer Party.  The Committee provides some liquid refreshment and everyone brings a plate!

Do join us.

Scout Troop Needed in Shenley

Are you looking for a new Challenge?

Could you be a Scouting Hero and Volunteer to run a Scout Troop for 1st Shenley?

Our group currently consists of a Beaver Colony and a Cub Pack only. We would love to have a Scout Troop for our Cubs to move on to once they turn 11, as currently they have to move to a different group to continue their scouting adventures.

If you would be interested in helping with a Scout Troop, training would be provided and links with other groups in the District would enable you to receive help and support from other local Scout Leaders. To find out more about Scouts follow this link https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/search/?cat=7

If you are up for a challenge and would like to join the adventure please contact Helen Hawthorne on 01923853283
