REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY 11th JULY 2019, AT 7.30PM IN THE VILLAGE HALL, 108 LONDON ROAD, SHENLEY

PRESENT:      Councillors Rosemary Gilligan (Chair), Nigel Heller, Anthony Spencer and William Susman

IN ATTENDANCE:     Amanda Leboff, Clerk to the Council

1                APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE            

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Gavin O’Sullivan and accepted by the Committee.

2                DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST     

There were none     

3                MINUTES OF FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON 7th February 2019

It was AGREED that the minutes of the Finance Committee Meeting, held on 7th February 2019 be confirmed as a correct record.

4                MATTERS ARISING 

There were no matters arising

5                ADDITIONAL CCTV CAMERAS

The meeting AGREED to purchase an additional camera with the maximum spend being £8,000. Cllr Heller will speak with Stevenage CCTV to discuss the best value for money deal, including the option of trading in the old CCTV camera.

It was AGREED the clerk would add to the budget £1,500, due to the depreciating value of the camera.  The meeting NOTED the camera would need replacing after 5 years

6                CONTINUATION OF PATH IN ROOKERY FIELD

The meeting AGREED that paying for the continuation of the path to be laid in Rookery Field was at present not financially possible.

It was AGREED that the Community Payback team would be asked if they can repair/replace the small bridge that connects Hillcrest Field with Rookery Field.

7                HOW MUCH CIL MONEY WE HAVE AND WHAT IT CAN BE SPENT ON

The meeting discussed what CIL money is available and what it can be spent on, this included the possibility of spending it on the new CCTV camera.

8                BUDGET COMPARISON – THIS YEARS SPEND COMPARE TO LAST YEAR.

The meeting looked through the budgets and spending trends. 

The meeting AGREED to hold an outdoor cinema event next year, AGREEING that £3,000 be added to the budget for this.

It was AGREED the clerk will add to the budget the increase of grounds maintenance. Clerk to get a list of all the works that the Gough’s carry out.
